Quality Performances

BRBT presents an annual dance season that includes two local company performances featuring guest artists and at least one performance by a professional touring guest company.

BRBT hosts Houston Ballet II, America’s fourth-largest ballet company, will present their enchanting variety of dance to the Baton Rouge community this October.

The Nutcracker – A Tale from the Bayou sets the familiar holiday classic in 19th-century Louisiana and has become a Baton Rouge holiday tradition. Accompanied by the Baton Rouge Symphony Orchestra, guest artists Hiroko Sakakibara and Simon Silva and about 400 local dancers have captivated audiences with sold-out shows since 1991.

BRBT’s Spring Concert, From this Pointe On… showcases a mixed bill of classical and modern dance, providing a diverse evening of new choreography and favorite classics while celebrating local talent and culture.

Student Matinees, offered at a discounted rate to local schools, provide children the opportunity to experience the same live professional performances.


Community Outreach

BRBT’s community outreach programs expose ballet and dance to audiences that have little to no opportunity to attend live performances due to physical and socio-economic limitations.

Ballet for Children is an educational, energetic and entertaining introduction to dance performed by BRBT’s company dancers in local schools. The 45-minute program has traveled to more than 10 parishes, reaching over 50,000 students in more than 100 schools.

Youth Ballet’s summer program allows dancers, ages 10-14, an opportunity to strengthen their technique and give back to the community. This summer tour consists of about 30 free-to-the-public performances at area libraries, youth camps, community centers, retirement centers and nursing homes.
